Hi all,

does anyone know if the casino machines are included in the new gambling laws?

As my local gala has loads of Random £500 machines

Just wondered if they all have to be changed!

They will all change September without exception.

You may find that some of them will not massively change (if they pay for the conversion kits) but they will no longer be random but fixed percentage £1 play for £500 jackpot. They will also only be able to have 4 max.

I rarely go to casino's, infact i've only been once to the Gala casino in liverpool, there must have been 50+ machines, all American types with stake options ranging from 1p to £2 per play, and the JP's were all £4,000.

Does anyone know how these will be affected? Surely the casino won't have to dispose of all the machines apart from 4 :?

Casino's don't work under the same guidelines - there is a seperate section for casino machines which isn't affected as far as I am aware.

As I understand it all section 16/21 machines will have to have the conversion kits fitted - or go!

I will have to look into the guidelines for casinos though - they could be exempt.

[Edit] The answer seems to be a bit more complicated than expected - followTHIS LINK to got to the relevant page by the gambling commission!

Operators certainly do not! But there is a lot of evidence that the machines have been a particular problem for gambling addictions...

Well I was at the casino last night and ALL the s16/s21 machines are now gone!

Which include that skill bingo game!! £20 jackpot woopee

That's the best way to be with any form of gambling - have an affordable limit and stick to it.

The problem with modern fruit machines is that a tenner can be gone in very few minutes with the stakes as they currently are.

That and they are increasingly cloned/boring machines. (You know who you are, Bell Fruit! )
